Comments are disabled under your Youtube video, and you can’t add it to a playlist? Slash Music explains how to remedy the situation.
It’s a mistake many artists make (unfortunately). When uploading their video to Youtube, artists have the annoying habit of checking the box “Yes, it’s made for Kids”. Thinking they’re doing the right thing, and provided the track doesn’t contain any vulgar lyrics, artists tick this box, surely thinking “if I don’t tick it, minors won’t be able to watch my video!”. Well, that’s not true! In fact, this box only needs to be ticked if your content is a nursery rhyme or cartoon, for example! So you’ve made a mistake…
Is it serious, doctor? >>>
Actually, yes, a little. In fact, checking this box closes the comment section under your video! And I might as well tell you, this can have a serious impact on traffic to your video. Indeed, many Internet users go to Youtube to read the comments, popcorn in hand, or comment and engage in endless debates. You should also know that someone who comments is someone who stays longer on your video (known as the retention rate). The higher the retention rate, the higher the video’s ranking in Youtube’s algorithm. Last but not least, you’re not supposed to know that in order to get a view on Youtube, the video must be viewed for at least 30 seconds. Someone who reads the comments will be more likely to exceed this time limit.
Finally, if you tick this box, your video cannot be added to a playlist. If someone comes across your clip, loves it, and wants to add it to their “Favorite” or “To listen to when I’m at the gym, but I never go despite paying an expensive subscription” playlist, they simply won’t be able to do so… Sad, isn’t it?
