No need to turn off the lights to get drawn into “Nitemares”, the latest gem from The Cahootz, taken from their second album “Clogged” (available on streaming platforms). This pop rock track pulses with electric and poetic tension, carried by the line that hits like a too-real morning: “The point of you and me is to be pointless as you can see…” , a perfect example of Max Theofilis’ punk rock tradition of singing lyrics that aren’t always meant to be fully understood. The visual universe, directed by M. Theo., who is also Max himself, kicks in as a theater of fascinating absurdities: a guitarist in a bathtub, a teddy bear turning from cute to menacing, a cemetery as a ghostly backdrop… All filmed in black and white, crafting a music video where strangeness becomes irresistible. It’s both a waking dream and a visual shiver, perfectly echoing the group’s musical boldness. The songs themselves could be described as “between a joke, an epilogue, and a eulogy,” adding another layer of depth to the experience. Presented by Slash Music, this track is destined to stay etched in memory.

The Cahootz: From high school shadows to the global stage
Born in the suburbs of Pittsburgh, Max Theofilis (vocals/guitar) has been driving The Cahootz as a solo project, after early beginnings with Bobby Fello (bass) and Jake Saltzman (drums), with whom he recorded two albums, “Let’s Pretend Again” and “Clogged”. These formative years set the tone for their unique blend of alternative rock, absurd humor, and catchy melodies.
Now, Max, also known as M. Theo. for his directorial work, is preparing to release “Natural Selection”, the third studio album dropping on August 17th across all major streaming platforms. With Jake still contributing in a part-time capacity for this project, Max believes this might be the best work he’s ever done. Fans eager to be surprised should keep an eye out, the story of The Cahootz is far from over.
