Some songs grab you by the throat before you even have time to brace yourself. WICKED ENVY is one of them. With “Hyde”, the Sydney quartet delivers a visceral metalcore track, carved from the raw stone of mental anguish. The song dives deep into the abyss of a merciless inner battle: a narrator imprisoned by his own thoughts, consumed by intrusive feelings and a growing sense of identity collapse. “Intrusive thoughts and lies shape every part of me”, that one line alone captures the full weight of the subject. The production by Voya Milutinovic wraps everything in a dense, suffocating texture, while the music video, directed by Sharp Tooth and Desiree Hancock, features the band performing in a crumbling, decayed setting that oozes abandonment and disintegration, the perfect backdrop for this sonic descent into darkness. A release well worth discovering on Slash Music.

Four Heads, One Monster
Des (vocals/keys), Jakub (bass), Jaz (guitar) and Eddie (drums) did not stumble onto the Australian metal scene by accident. Since their 2021 EP “What The Hell Am I Doing”, the band has been carefully weaving a sonic web drawing from the influences of In This Moment, The Pretty Reckless and Bullet for My Valentine, three pillars of dark and theatrical rock that have clearly left a deep mark on the band’s DNA. Their single “It’s Been a Longtime” already sent the numbers spinning with 50,000 Spotify streams in under two months, a remarkable feat for a debut. “Final Descent” and “Paralysis Demon” confirmed this was no fluke, earning praise from Music Feeds, Scenestr, Metal Roos and Heavy Magazine. Radio waves have not been left behind either, with Triple J Short.Fast.Loud, Double J Eleven and even Total Rock Louder in Germany opening their airwaves to their razor-sharp sound. On stage, the band has sharpened its teeth alongside Future Static, The Last Martyr, Mannequin Death Squad, FANGZ and Sienna Skies, stacking miles and battle scars with an energy that nothing seems capable of containing. And if all of this already sounds impressive, know that something is brewing in the shadows, a hidden side about to be revealed, “Unveil The Other Side “. Keep your ears wide open, Wicked Envy has not shown all of its faces yet.
