Caught between pain and lingering desire, asobi delivers with « Paint It Blue » a song that explores the complexity of emotions with palpable intensity. Produced by Mitsunori Ikeda, the track blends pop rock, hip-hop, and electronic textures to convey the tension between forgiveness and clarity. « Alright I think I’m gonna need some time to think about your feelings » resonates like an intimate confession, while the music video directed by Yusuke Maruyama (stacks) showcases the band in vibrant urban sequences, alternating energetic performances and dynamic light effects. This introspective piece, both fragile and powerful, captivates with its sincerity and invites listeners into a world where sadness transforms into beauty, a world presented by Slash Music.

A unique musical identity
Based in Tokyo, asobi is a six-member ensemble composed of Isami Shoji (Vo/MC), Yuki Arahata (Vo/MC), Goto Spicy (Vo/MC), Komatsu (Gt), Saigusa (Ba), and Lainey (Trackmaker/DJ). The band originated from a music circle at Waseda University, where the members first met and bonded over shared musical passions. What started as a casual pastime, a simple “game” (asobi in Japanese), soon evolved into a serious artistic endeavor. With three MCs delivering sharp, emotive lyrics and a combination of live instruments and electronic production, asobi has developed a sound that defies traditional genre boundaries, blending pop rock, hip-hop, and electronic influences into a seamless fusion. Over the years, asobi has continued to refine their artistry, integrating energetic live performances with carefully crafted studio productions.
After the success of singles like « Daisy », « On Repeat », and « Glitter », the group released their first full-length album, « JUNCTION », on January 14, 2025, a 12-track project showcasing the full maturity and creativity of asobi. Listening to the album in its entirety reveals a perfect balance of emotion, energy, and sonic innovation. Several tour dates are already scheduled, available at https://asobi.online/livelist. Keep an eye on asobi, their journey has only just begun.
