From the very first seconds of this interview, Gemma Schito settles behind the microphone with a composure that feels startling for someone her age, as though the spotlight had always been her natural home. She opens up about her creative process with disarming honesty. Her latest single “Mask” was born from an entire day spent alone at the piano, with no precise goal in mind, driven purely by the desire to empty herself emotionally and let what was buried deep inside rise to the surface. This almost meditative approach allowed her to reach something real and unfiltered, which is precisely what gives “Mask” its depth and texture. She also touches on the delicate balance between her studies and a career that is steadily gaining momentum: small gigs stacking up, connections forming, compliments pouring in, none of which go to her head, but all of which push her to keep going. And beneath it all, one senses the quiet but essential presence of her mother, her greatest pillar, not on screen but clearly not far away, a reminder that this journey is very much a family affair. Slash Music is proud to introduce this artist to you.

London calls, Gemma Schito answers
Having arrived in London from Italy at eleven without speaking a word of English, Gemma Schito quickly turned melodies into her universal language. A student at the prestigious Sylvia Young Theatre School, which previously shaped the paths of Amy Winehouse and Dua Lipa, she spends her days forging an iron discipline across classes, rehearsals, songwriting and performances. It was during the pandemic, back in Italy, that she first began composing with an emotional maturity that caught attention, laying the foundations of a singular, deeply personal and instantly recognisable world. Her music is now available on YouTube and all digital platforms, and the momentum continues to build.

Her upcoming schedule is looking particularly exciting: on 31 May 2026, she takes the stage at the AM – Transmission Show at the Temple of Art and Music (TAM) at Mercato Metropolitano, 42 Newington Causeway, SE1 6DR. The evening will also feature performances from other emerging talents of the TAM Open Music Academy, alongside the presence of legendary mentor Dana Gillespie, who will introduce Gemma’s debut of Foolish Seasons. Industry figures, local supporters of grassroots venues, and fellow young artists will be in attendance, making it a night of both heritage and discovery. Then, at the end of June, she joins the lineup of the Everywhere At Once Festival, a colossal event bringing together over 1,200 concerts across more than 500 venues throughout the UK, including a date at the Temple of Art and Music (TAM). A stage built for an artist who is crafting her legend one show at a time, one connection at a time. The world may not yet know Gemma Schito by name, but it will not take long.
