Greg Roy: Career, Influences, and Upcoming Projects
Born Gregory Whitehead in Montego Bay, Jamaica, Greg Roy began his career at a young age as a singer, songwriter, and radio host on Jamaica 91.7. His influences stem from the best of classic reggae, including Bob Marley & the Wailers, Dennis Brown, and Gregory Isaacs. Formerly known as Mr. Ice, he formed his first band at age 15 and made a name for himself on Jamaican and American stages, notably in New York and Boston. Now performing as Greg Roy, he delivers roots reggae filled with spirituality, social messages, and poetry. His impressive stage presence, visible on his YouTube channel, showcases an artist generous with his fans, regularly sharing live excerpts, behind-the-scenes footage, and projects on his social networks. His career includes international collaborations (Giddimani Records, Mama Afrika Riddim) and his role as lead vocalist of the cover band The Duppy Conquerors. Twice nominated for the Boston Music Awards International Artist of the Year, Greg Roy continues to leave his unique mark on the global reggae scene.
