A riff that sparks like a flash in the night, a voice narrating the wandering of a strange character, and suddenly the scene is set. With “His Name’s Wentar”, No Birdies paints the story of a marginal little man, almost mythological, caught between running away and living without a home. “His name’s Wentar”, the song repeats, as if to etch this name into our memory, a ghostly figure embodying both solitude and constrained freedom. The video brings this raw poetry to life: scenes of friendship caught in the moment, musicians gathering in a room crammed with instruments, then quieter fragments where the protagonist lies on the grass, seeking a fragile kind of peace. The direction skillfully weaves together collective energy and the fragile intimacy of a fugitive daily life. A sincere, unvarnished fresco, presented by Slash Music.
“Precarity”: The world of no birdies in full bloom
Behind No Birdies is Kieran Cook, a British multi-instrumentalist who has been blurring the lines of indie rock since 2017. After a lo-fi debut with Wanna Be and a noted stint as drummer in the post-punk band Alexander Wept, the artist carved out a unique identity. His past projects, Synth Stringed, Amatorculist, Solo in the Sky, and Brain Sieve, already showcase his insatiable curiosity and ever-bolder sonic storytelling. Along the way, he has collaborated with Infant Liquor and cemented his place as a key member of the studio collective The Scrimblo Scrumblos.
Today, with his new album “Precarity”, released on September 5 and boasting 14 tracks, he unveils the full scope of his vision. A dense, thoughtful record, where each song feels like another page in his sonic diary. Guitars brush against raw emotions, lyrics probe human fragility and the precarious balance of our lives. For anyone looking to discover a complete, genuine artist in constant evolution, No Birdies is one to watch, and believe us, what comes next is bound to be exciting
