“I don’t want anyone to know, I’m afraid of you letting go… put it all aside… at the end of the day, they’ll say, that we didn’t try enough” – Oceans on Other Planets
“The song is about two main concepts. Concept number 1: End of a relationship. When important relationships get frayed and get into trouble. And they decay. And they might even be on the brink of failure. Ya know, when you really care about someone, and you’ve been through a lot, and you’re worried that the relationship might be at risk, or in trouble, or like the other person might not care as much anymore. There’s a line… “I don’t want anyone to know, I’m afraid of you letting go…”” Nick explains during our interview before continuing : “Concept number 2: End of the world. And so in a way, the end of the relationship and the end of the world are utilized interchangeably within the song. And the line I mentioned before ends like this: “I don’t want anyone to know, I’m afraid of you letting go… put it all aside… at the end of the world, they’ll say, that we didn’t try enough…”. Imagine if you could save the relationship, or save the world, with just a little more effort. But you didn’t put in the effort, so it failed, and everything died”.
