Discover the moving story of this itinerant artist…
In her new song, “Winnipeg”, Orit Shimoni (pronounced O’reet) echoes her own personal story to deliver a touching track. On the road for over 10 years as an itinerant musician, it was in the small town of “Winnipeg” that everything changed…: “I had arrived in Winnipeg by train to play a few small concerts, with the plan of boarding the train again and heading east for the rest of my tour and travels” she recounts via her social networks before continuing: “The sudden announcement of the pandemic lock-downs occurred in those very same days. The train was cancelled, and the “shelter at home” orders came, (but, having been nomadic for so long, I didn’t have one to shelter in!)”. This music, then, is an opportunity for the artist to put some words on what she was feeling at the time. This story is told with great poetry in a magnificent clip that we invite you to view without further ado on Slash Music.
“I wake and eat and sleep and breathe and the world still seems to spin…” – Orit Shimoni
“I directed and filmed this video to depict the sense of isolation and waiting, with the dream-like train in the background haunting me as both a reason for my misery but also a guide to stay hopeful about being able to move again” she tells her community about this latest clip.
