Some tracks grab you by the throat before you even have time to brace yourself, and « Smile » is one of them. The latest release from JP Hill, directed by TJ Bell, arrives as a cinematic alternative rock single establishes itself as a dizzying plunge into the depths of the human psyche. Saturated guitars, a drumbeat pulsing like a heart under pressure, a voice oscillating between wreckage and raw power : the formula is as simple as it is devastating.
The lyrics pull no punches. Rather than lulling the listener into the illusion of forced happiness, JP Hill delivers an unfiltered truth, one rooted in mortality, hollow facades, and the impossibility of denial in the face of death. « They’ll all find out when they die » lands like a verdict handed down in an empty courtroom.
The video is a visual object in its own right : mesmerizing, unsettling, built like a short film where every image raises more questions than it answers. Some works deserve to be discovered with wide-open eyes. Slash Music is inviting you to take the leap.

The man behind the prophet
JP Hill is no stranger to us, and for good reason. Founder of Superglide and The Mercenaries, author of four solo albums under the name Bus Stop Prophet, he now stands as the incandescent driving force behind Sons of the Divide, a five-piece rock/metal band. Born and raised in Sapulpa, Oklahoma, and a lifelong die-hard Oklahoma Sooners football fan, it is from these Oklahoma roots that all his video and music productions are born. Currently based out of Virginia Beach, with Tulsa serving as a second home base, JP Hill has built a career carved from granite, with plans to bring his music back to Oklahoma for shows later this year.
2026 has barely begun and this underground American artist is already in full motion. And for the first time, a video by JP Hill and TJ. Bell is officially listed on Apple Music and Spotify, a milestone for the duo. Do not take your eyes off JP Hill, he has a habit of showing up exactly where you least expect him.
